There’s far more dire matters connected to the President, which is why I wanted to draw this. If there were cosmic justice, he’d have struggled with the stupid umbrella this weekend for longer, and this cartoon would be less humorous.
This one ended up taking much too long to get caught up, given the other stuff I had to do today, but still, I enjoyed making it.
Back to politics. I spent a lot more time on this one than the others I’ve done so far this year. And I hope the more cartoony style doesn’t make it seem like I’m being glib about this matter - nothing could be further from the truth. Of all the misdeeds, petty and grandiose, of the Trump administration, this one stands out to me as especially horrifying.
A reflection of how I’ve been feeling lately.
Still working through my feelings about recent political events.
I figure I’ll be mostly over it in a decade or so.
So…today was kinda rough. It’s not a completely certain done deal, but Brett Kavanaugh is now nearly certain to be confirmed to the US Supreme Court. I find this extremely upsetting, and I was hoping against hope that a couple more people in the Senate would be decent human beings than actually intend to be.
As a result, I didn’t get to today’s drawing until pretty late in the day - didn’t even look at what the word prompt was until about 5pm. Of course, given what’s been on my mind today, when I saw it was “chicken” I didn’t even have to pause to think - it was immediately obvious what I’d be drawing.
A friend of mind commented that he would like to see this phrase on a shirt, after being struck by how easily we all accepted near-constant surveillance from technology companies, so I provided.

Keeping track of current events has been really depressing lately.
This one's more lighthearted, at least on it's face. It was inspired by a post I saw on Facebook recently.
A response more generally to political developments over the past year in the United States.
