I actually finished this several days ago, but holiday preparations distracted me from posting.
3 down, 1 left to go.
First ettin all done!
This is the last of the set - since they’re large creatures, we’re only doing 4 of them.
I never think of 2-headed giants when I hear the term “ettin” - instead it makes me think of Stargate’s goa'uld (which, of course, were called that by the Norse-style human cultures in that show precisely because they have “2 heads” - just one is inside the other). Possibly I’ve just watched that show too many times.
I actually finished these back in early September, but I’d gotten out of the habit of posting things regularly this summer.
The 3rd book in The Saga of the Rose series is The Nothing Light, and I drew more maps for that volume. The majority of the story takes place in northern Surak, in and around the city of Lessas, so all the new maps pertain to that region.
And there they are, all done!
Up next will be a set of ettins, as the first of pack #3.
And that’s the last of them. Tomorrow I’ll have the set image that goes into the permanent gallery.
Primitive as they are, the troglodytes do still have magic users, of course!
Not a whole lot to say about this one. Troglodytes are especially primitive, seldom even using the recovered weapons of their enemies, so their access to ranged gear is limited.
Maybe it’s a little strange for a lizard-person to carry its young this way - presumably troglodytes lay eggs, and most egg-laying creatures are at least mobile almost as soon as they hatch, but oh well.
In the wake of Inktober this year, I really wanted to get around to revisiting this particular image from last year, so for the last few days I’ve been working it over in color. And I have to say, I’m really, really happy with how it’s turned out.
I’ve put this up for sale over at Teepublic, and for the next few days it’ll be available for 30% off!
I didn’t get back to this until the very end, but I still finished the overall challenge on time!
