The first illustration where the Rose siblings have at last reached their destination of Fallor. Here the sisters are washing away the road dust in the local bathhouse.
I had planned to be spending today on something else altogether, but this morning I spotted this on Twitter:
and it fired my imagination, so this was the result.
Continuing to make progress on the Saga of the Rose illustrations.
This makes 18 Whispers of Heaven sketches, with 12 still to go (1 from part 2, and 11 from Part 3).
That's 3 done, and just 1 left to finish off on this set.
Next step done. I think I'll do the lines and flats of the last ogre before coming back and doing the final colors.
Been letting myself get behind on my ogres!
I thought about doing something with knotwork, but decided a visual pun would be more fun.
Don't startle her!
I actually finished this a couple hours ago, but I forgot to post it.
The dragon itself got sort of strangely tribal. I didn't altogether plan on that when I started this one, but I found myself liking it.
Was pretty busy for a lot of today with non-art stuff, but I did manage to get this one done under the wire.
Didn't QUITE make it on the technical 4th, but I came close!
I blame it on letting this one get a bit out of hand.
I didn't find out about this until yesterday, so I'm playing a bit of catch-up, but I thought it would be fun to participate. Here's my drawings for the first 2 days of the month, and I'll try to get up to date over the next couple days if I can fit it in.
For my part, I thought I'd try to stick to a singular theme for all my efforts, and since I've been wanting to draw more dragons lately, that seemed like a good one.
I'm sorta cheating a tiny bit with these - I'm drawing these in Illustrator rather than on paper with traditional ink, or even using a program like Sketchbook or Photoshop that mimics ink. I am using basically the same "inking" technique that I use on the Mythic Portal tokens.
Decided to finish these in a slightly different order than I started them.
Hopefully I'm back in my groove now. Flat colors for this should come tomorrow.
It took me MUCH longer to get this done than it should have, but I finally finished it.
There's still 1 more illustration to do for this part of the book, which I've been putting off. The moment when the Rose family catches their first sight of the Camp of the Darkling Prince, back at the beginning of the section.
Been having a busy/rough time of it for the last month or so, and haven't gotten nearly as much art done as I'd like in consequence, but I did do this up a few days ago, and rather like how it turned out.
It is also available for sale in a variety of formats in my stores - notably for the moment is my Society6 shop, which is about to go on sale for the next couple days (an announcement there is forthcoming in the morning).
And the 4th and final ogre.
I'll probably be posting another Whispers of Heaven illustration before I get started on the finished lines for these.
