Inktober 2018 Day 14

Was still feeling under the weather yesterday, but I did manage to finish this one off sufficiently. I’m still a day behind, though - have to come up with art for both “weak” and “angular.”

This is more Critical Role fan art, for those unfamiliar - from a moment of levity between adventures featuring Vex and Grog.

Inktober 2018 Day 11

Back to politics. I spent a lot more time on this one than the others I’ve done so far this year. And I hope the more cartoony style doesn’t make it seem like I’m being glib about this matter - nothing could be further from the truth. Of all the misdeeds, petty and grandiose, of the Trump administration, this one stands out to me as especially horrifying.

Inktober Day 31

Done at last, and only 4 days late!  Since I started the challenge almost that late and caught up, I'm still sort of on time, right?

So, as I intimated before, this is a portrait of my kids in their Halloween costumes for this year.  I'm biased, but I do think they're pretty darned adorable.

When I set out to make this last piece in the challenge, I knew it meant I'd be a day late - I could not get the reference photos of my kids in costume until the end of the day, after all, and that meant not even starting until after dinner at best.  So I decided to wait until November 1st to begin.  Then, to do it justice, it took longer than I planned.  Last night, I was hard at work on it until close to 1am, and concluded I should stop and finish it in the morning - I estimated I had a couple of hours remaining, but maybe less.  Unfortunately, I've also been dealing with an extremely persistent cold my whole family caught a couple weeks ago, and last night the coughing kept me awake for nearly 3 more hours.  Taking pity on me, my lovely wife let me stay in bed come morning, and took the kids off to school for me, so I slept most of the morning away.  When I finally sat down to finish, I discovered that Windows had seen fit to reboot itself, and the last ~4 hours of work I'd put in were gone.  I could've sworn I'd saved - several times - but it seems not.  So instead of finishing it off, I had to redo about a third of it first. Still though, I'm really pleased with the final result.

Inktober Day 28

I got this one finished several hours late - I was up until 4am before it was done - but I'm still not behind!  I decided I'd better go to bed rather than spend the ~half hour it takes to post the finished product everywhere.

Today's going to be a busy day, and I'm not at all sure yet what I'm going to draw, so we'll see when I post the one for the 29th.

Inktober Day 24

I've been seeing a lot of other participants in Inktober saying that the prompts are getting harder to draw as we come to the end.  I think there's some truth to that, for whatever reason, but for my part, I feel like I'm producing more interesting drawings as a result.

Inktober Day 21

Getting over that cold now, but still not 100%.  Still, here's today's drawing.  Works both as a direct reference to the prompt word, and as a play on it, by suggesting Imperator Furiosa from Mad Max.

Inktober Day 19

I caught a cold today, and drawing at all was a bit of a struggle, what with the sneezing and nose-blowing every couple minutes.  It didn't turn out as well I'd have liked, but I've run out of energy, so I declare it done.

Inktober Day 17

As is probably obvious to most, inspired by a D&D gold dragon.  I've always thought the notion of how their wings function to be nifty, even if I wasn't as much of a fan of the rest of their design.
